A simple program, that simply doesnt work.
I was hoping this program could serve as a back-up to my hardware Boss metronome, but, unfortunately, the software needs a lot of work:
1) It doesnt keep time! I syncd it with my Boss DB-60 metronome, which always keeps perfect time, and Web Metronome gets off a few milliseconds after a couple minutes. I also syncd it with songs on iTunes that I already knew their bpm, and again W.M. couldnt keep up.
2) There is significant latency/delay after hitting the start button. This is problematic when you need the metronome to start right on a beat when using it with existing tracks. The first click needs to start simultaneously with hitting the start button.
3) Using a slider for the Beats Per Cycle function is challenging when you only want to move one or two beats per cycle. Adding buttons would help.
4) Needs an independent volume control so that you dont have to turn your whole system down while using it, especially when using it with downloaded tracks.
#1 above is a major problem, given that keeping perfect time is supposed to be the main function of the program. The other issues Ive mentioned make it impractical for using as a click track for live use.
The program is inexpensive though, and has the potential to be useful for simply practicing keeping time with a guitar, piano, etc. It has a long way to go before being suitable for use as a live click track.
